Locala is a not-for-profit social enterprise that is proud to provide a variety of NHS community healthcare services to people in Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford.

Those services care for, and support people, from before birth to end of life, ranging from health visitors to physiotherapy, and sexual health to district nursing, as well as dental care, school nurses, foot care, and drug and alcohol support.

Our colleagues always aim to provide high quality, value for money care and support people closer to home.

We’re a not-for-profit social enterprise, so we are in the great position of having the flexibility to tailor our services to meet the needs of our communities - and any financial surplus is re-invested straight back into supporting patient care.

We also work closely with GPs, Social Services, other local NHS organisations and Local Authorities to deliver a co-ordinated approach to care and support.


Part of our social enterprise approach to provide innovative services that reflect the needs of local communities means Locala is involved in partnership working with other agencies including:

Thriving Kirklees

The innovative partnership brings together five organisations and their 0-19 services to help ensure that all children, young people and families living in Kirklees will be healthy and resilient.

The partnership’s services for children and young people aged 0-19 (up to 25-years old for young people with special needs) and their families include:

  • Health visiting and family nurse partnership
  • School nursing
  • Ask CaMHS
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CaMHS)
  • Children's Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service
  • National Child Measurement Programme
  • Assessment and diagnosis of autistic spectrum conditions (through referrals made by a Speech and Language Therapist, Paediatrician, or Educational Psychologist)
  • Support for children and young people with learning disabilities
  • Home-Start Family Support
  • Healthy child vitamins.

Thriving Kirklees partnership is led by Locala, working with South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust (SWYPT), Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust, Home-Start Kirklees, Yorkshire Children’s Centre

Calderdale PHEYS

Our Public Health Early Years’ Service in Calderdale provides: Health Visiting, Oral Health and Breastfeeding Support to families of children aged 0-5 years across Calderdale – a service commissioned by Calderdale Public Health.

The service offers a high-quality, holistic approach and involves Health Visiting, Breastfeeding Peer Supporters and Oral Health promotion. You can find out more on the Calderdale PHEYS page – or on the Health Early Years website.
